Incoming & Outgoing Mail Settings

You can always double check if you have the right username and password by logging in to the WebMail at http://mail01.yourhost.com or http://mydomainname.yourhost.com

A couple of common mistakes are:

1. Make sure the UserID field is the full email address.

2. Set both incoming and outgoing mail servers to mail01.yourhost.com.

3. Enable outgoing SMTP authentication.

4. For outgoing ports, change from port 25 to 587 if you are not using SSL, if you are using SSL change to 465.  Many ISP's block port 25 by default.

All the Outlook settings are very similar

 

All the Outlook settings are very similar. Only the server settings will change.

At first you will only have to provide your name, email, user name (that is usually your email) and password.

Then all you will need, is to know your server's email provider settings.

These are the server settings for the most common email providers:

 

 

Gmail settings

 

You will need to enable POP in Gmail:
1 - Log in to Gmail
2 - Click on the Configuration button at the top of the page
3 - Select Settings
4 - Select Forwarding and POP/IMAP
5 - Enable POP and select what you wish to occur wen accessing POP emails.

These are the Outlook settings necessary to configure Gmail in Outlook:
Incoming mail Server (POP3): pop.gmail.com | port 995 | with an SSL encrypted connection
Outgoing mail Server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com | port 465 | with an SSL encrypted connection | requires authentication

 

 

Hotmail / Outlook.com settings

 

You will need to enable POP in Hotmail:
1 - Log in to Hotmail
2 - Click on the Configuration button at the top of the page
3 - Select More mail settings
4 - Select Connect devices and apps with POP
5 - Enable POP and select what you wish to occur wen accessing POP emails

These are the Outlook settings necessary to configure Hotmail in Outlook:
Incoming mail Server (POP3): pop3.live.com | port 995 | with an SSL encrypted connection
Outgoing mail Server (SMTP): smtp.live.com | port 587 | with an TLS encrypted connection | requires authentication

 

 

Yahoo settings

 

You will need to enable POP in Yahoo:
1 - Log in to Yahoo
2 - Click on the Configuration button at the top of the page
3 - Select Mail Options
4 - Select POP & Forwarding
5 - Enable POP and select what you wish to occur wen accessing POP emails

 

These are the Outlook settings necessary to configure Yahoo in Outlook:
Incoming mail Server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.com | port 995 | with an SSL encrypted connection

Outgoing mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com | port 465| with an TLS encrypted connection | requires authentication

 

 

Hosting settings

 

These are the most common settings BUT you should ONLY use the ones provided by your Hosting service.

Incoming server (POP3): mail.yourwebsite.com | port 110 | No encrypted connection
But in it can also be mail.anotherserver.com | port 995 | encrypted connection: SSL

Outgoing server (SMTP): mail.yourwebsite.com | port 587 | No encrypted connection
But in it can also be mail.anotherserver.com | port 465 | encrypted connection: SSL
Requires authentication with your username (your email) and password (provided by your hosting provider)

Never leave copies of messages in the server otherwise your server account will keep pilling up emails until its full, resulting in errors and preventing you from sending and recieving emails (and deleting them from your Outlook's inbox will make no difference)
